This class features Fabric Collage Applique - the Laura Heine Way
A Laura Heine collage kit (Made and Available at Beehive Quilt Shop, kits range $30 - $40) and pattern ($25) is required for this class. You can purchase these at Beehive. Learn the techniques and tips of the Laura Heine method of collage applique from Annarose White, Certified Laura Heine Instructor. Learn about color and value and not even realize you are learning it! Work with different scales of fabric and turn them into a one-of-a-kind quilt!
The pattern for this class is:
Teeny Tiny Collage Patterns Group #1 - #13. Most Teeny Tiny Collage patterns finish at 16 x 20 and three designs are included in one pattern! These quilts can be finished as tiny wall hangings, pillows, or stretched on a canvas and hung. Individual kits are available and can be purchased for this pattern.
We have Teeny Tiny Collage Kits for: The Featherweight, The Pincushion, Octopus, Butterfly, The Dress, The Witch, Abilene Cow, Blue Truck, Christmas Truck, Halloween Truck, Peppermint the Reindeer, Rooster, Honeybee, Flamingo
We also have a generic background fabric kit if you wish to do your own colors but don't have enough low volume fabric.
Each pattern in the collection requires
- 3-4 yards of 12” Steam a Seam 2
- 19 x 23 piece of Pattern Ease Foundation
- Applique Pressing sheet (as they are constructed on it).
- For the Teeny Tiny projects, Laura Heine recommends the Precision Fusing Mat (a two piece applique pressing sheet package). For other projects, Laura Heine recommend the Goddess Applique Pressing Sheet for Medium and Large Projects.
- Karen Kay Buckley Perfect Scissors (Blue Handle) these have micro-serrated blades that are a must have for collaging
- A small portable iron is helpful to have at your workstation if you have a wool pressing mat or mini ironing surface
- No. 2 Pencil and a marking item white
You can pick your pattern and everyone will be working on their own creation. This is a design and learning class, so you will NOT need your sewing machine. No sewing will be involved in this class.
HOMEWORK: It is most helpful to pre-fuse your fabric from your fabric kit to the Steam a Seam 2 prior to class. Please refer to the YouTube Video by Beehive Quilt Shop titled: How to prepare collage fabric kit with Steam A Seam 2
