Class Policies for Sewing & Quilting Classes

Welcome to our sewing and quilting classes! To ensure every student has a fun, safe, and productive experience, please review our Class Policies below. These guidelines help our instructors teach effectively and help students get the most out of their sewing class.
General Sewing Class Policy
Our sewing classes are designed for beginners and experienced quilters alike. To keep classes running smoothly:

Please arrive 10–15 minutes early to set up your machine and materials.

Each student must bring their own sewing machine in good working order - not all classes require a sewing machine. Sewing machines are available to rent for $25/day. We are Brother Sewing Machine Dealership, and have PS500, BQ950 and BQ1350 Machines available for rental.

All required supplies and class kits will be listed on the class description page.

Children under 17 must be accompanied by an adult unless the class is specifically for kids.
Class Registration & Payment
To secure your seat in a class:

Pre-registration and full payment are required.

Class fees cover instruction; supplies are purchased separately unless the class includes a kit.

Spots are limited—our quilting and sewing classes fill quickly!
- Most classes have a "waitlist" and you can add yourself to the waitlist without having to pre-pay.
Cancellation & Refund Policy for Sewing Classes
We understand plans change. To keep things fair for students and instructors:

Cancellations 7+ days before class → full store credit.

Cancellations within 7 days → no refunds, but you may transfer your spot to a friend unless other arrangments have been made, do call us 620-440-8191 or email beehivequiltshop@gmail.com for class cancelation requests.
- Some classes that are "Designer" may have more detailed cancelation/refund policies. See class to review. Example: Some class fees may have an administrative fee if canceled within 90 days of the event.

If Beehive Quilt Shop must cancel a class due to weather, instructor illness, or low enrollment → full refund or class credit issued. During weather months of December, January, February this is most common. We strive to make that call within 24 Hours.
What to Bring to Class
Depending on the class, you may need:

Sewing machine (clean, oiled, and threaded) Haven't done this in a while, bring your machine in for a full service - call 620-440-8191 with questions. You may drop your machine off at anytime, some prefer to give us a heads up and that's quite alright. Our typical service is within two weeks, if no replacement parts are needed.

Basic sewing notions (scissors, seam ripper, pins, rotary cutter, new blade, ruler(s), marking pens made for the quilting industry)

Fabric and materials listed in the class description
- Most class fees are only the class instruction, and patterns are not included. Each person attending the class must own their own pattern. Sharing is not permitted.

Classroom Etiquette & Safety
To create a positive learning environment:

Please silence cell phones.

Respect instructors and classmates.

For everyone’s safety, use rotary cutters and irons responsibly, our classroom irons are Oliso and have robotic features to them.
Location & Parking Information

Downtown Wellington, Kansas doesn't have any paid parking. All parking downtown is FREE, no time limits. There is not a downtown electric car charging station at this time. The nearest gas stations are one mile away at 16th and HWY 81.
- Handicap Parking Closest Stalls are 2/3 down the block in front of Powder & String on Washington Ave. Southbound on the West Side of the Street. The Northbound East Side of the Street Handicap Parking is in front of a open city lot, and you will need to cross with the crosswalk at 7th & Washington Ave. (no light).
Classes are held in two primary venues.
